The Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) has appointed Professor Folasade Dahunsi of the Department of Computer Engineering as the pioneer Director of the Centre for Career Services with effect from 10th June 2024.
The Centre was established to boost employability of graduates and ensure that the students of the university have a seamless experience and exposure to meet the prevailing industry and market needs for employment opportunities.
The Centre will also serve as the meeting point for employers and industry to interact with the students of the university for employment purposes and related needs.
Under the leadership of Professor Dahunsi, the Centre is expected to align career conversations with students academic journey, interests and personal growth for a fulfilling university experience; provide academic support to boost engagement, guide course selection, connect students with professionals and develop vital 21st century skills; facilitate career connections by increasing employer engagement with students and providing opportunities to network with alumni and mentors; prepare students for the world of work with on-campus/off-campus experiential learning, volunteerism and work experience opportunities.
In a congratulatory message the Vice Chancellor Professor Adenike Oladiji said Dahunsi's appointment is a testament to her versatility, readiness to contribute to the development of FUTA and Excellence.
The Vice Chancellor urged her to keep the flag of FUTA flying while continuing her robust contribution to the production of high-level skilled manpower with competitive edge in the global market by the University.
