The class of 2023 and 300 level students of the Department of Agricultural Extension and Communication Technology, Federal University of Technology Akure, FUTA have donated a photocopying machine and a deep freezer to the department.
Speaking on behalf of their colleagues during the presentation on Monday, October 14, 2024, Praise Jegede and Olufemi Ogunjobi, said the Department has been like home to them and they felt contributing to their homestead would be a wonderful idea.
They thanked all the departmental staff for guiding them through their stay in FUTA and making their SIWES programme a success. They said even after graduation they would not forget the Department and institution that trained them.
The Head of Department, Professor Oluwole Akinagbe congratulated the final year students for successfully concluding their academic programme and the Year III students for showing readiness to lift the Department to a higher level. He thanked the students for the donation which he said would enhance the operations of the department. Prof Akinagbe encouraged all other student present at the presentation to emulate the outgoing and the 300 level students and contribute their own quota to the development of the Department.
In a remark, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Adenike Oladiji, represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic, Professor Taiwo Amos, said the management appreciates the gesture from the students from the two levels saying a donation to AEC is a donation to FUTA by extension. Professor Oladiji said it’s always good to remember one’s source at all times. She said the gesture will go into the annals of the history of FUTA as a well thought out and commendable initiative.
Speaking relatedly the Dean School of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology, Professor Oluwatooyin Oludahunsi represented by Professor Anthony Ogunjimi thanked the students and urged them to keep the FUTA flag flying and continue to be worthy ambassadors of FUTA wherever they find themselves.
