Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Senator Professor Nora Ladi Daduut, has reaffirmed her commitment to supporting quality education for young people in Nigeria.
Speaking at a thanksgiving Mass held in her honor following her appointment as Pro-Chancellor by the Federal Government, at the Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church in Kwalla, Quanpan Local Government Area of Plateau State, Daduut expressed her dedication to ensuring that education remains accessible to all.
Daduut, who represented Plateau South Senatorial District in the 9th National Assembly, emphasized that education is the foundation of national development. “Education is the bedrock of any nation’s development, and we must make it attractive to everyone, especially the underprivileged,” she said.
In her address, Daduut underscored the importance of investing in girl-child education, stating that it will significantly contribute to the nation’s progress. “Educating the girl-child provides a platform for her to become an advocate and catalyst for positive change.”
She commended the government’s efforts in improving the education sector but stressed the need for additional support. Senator Daduut called on the private sector and individuals to support the government ’s efforts to transform the education sector, noting that the government cannot achieve this goal alone.
Earlier in the event, the Parish Priest of Saint Patrick’s Church, Rev. Father James Dasat, praised Senator Daduut’s efforts to improve society through education. He highlighted her contributions to enhancing education in the country and urged her to continue being an inspiration to the younger generation.
The thanksgiving event was well-attended by family, friends, and well-wishers of the senator.
