The newly elected officials of the FUTA Students’ Union, Students’ Executives Council and Hall Executives Council had a meeting with the leadership of the Students’ Affairs Division where the Dean of Students, Prof. David Oke played host.
Being the first official meeting, the President - Elect, Comrade Taiwo Abejoye , said that the purpose of the meeting was to familiarize themselves with the Division as he introduced the newly elected excos to the leadership of the Division.
Speaking on behalf of the Students’ Affairs Division, the Dean- Prof. David whose stance was buttressed by the Subdean, Dr. Okewale, commended the excos for the unity which they displayed and further advised them to adopt negotiation and collaboration as their tools of leadership, stating that the name of the University should be protected.
Responding, the President-Elect appreciated the Division for their warm reception. He stated that the newly elected excos know the power of collaboration and are ready to work with the Students’ Affairs Division for the progress of the University and ensure the protection of the interests of the students.
“I will not compromise in defending the interests of the students, the new excos will also not betray the trust which the students have in us. We will maintain the relevance of the Union even as we promote the brand of FUTA”
The new leaders of the Students’ Union promised to prioritize the welfare of the students who have trusted them with their votes and restated their commitment to create a FUTASU that works for all.
