MFM General Overseer , Daniel Olukoya , to Donate Microbiology Laboratory to FUTA
The General Overseer of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles, MFM , Professor Daniel Olukoya has initiated the process of building a microbiology laboratory for the School of Life Sciences, Federal University of Technology Akure, FUTA as part of efforts to deepen the learning experience of students.
Speaking during the the handover of the site of the proposed project to the MFM delegation by the University, on Monday, 5th August 2024, the Regional Overseer, Southwest 4 region Akure, Pastor Adeniyi Adebayo said " Professor Olukoya is passionate about education. His legacy is all about impacting the younger generation. He is always impressed with brilliance and intelligent young people and will go any length to support them academically. In Mountaintop University, most students who excel academically are given scholarships to aid their educational pursuit. This project is his way of extending a hand of fellowship to FUTA and we are optimistic that this will leave a lasting imprint in the lives of all the students who will have access to the facility when it's completed. "
Pastor Adeniyi Adebayo gave the assurance that the project will be executed within the stipulated time frame.
Responding, the Vice Chancellor Professor Adenike Oladiji expressed gratitude for the donation. She said the gesture was magnanimous and worthy of emulation. She said " I want to put it on the record that Professor Olukoya is totally accessible. There was no bureaucracy to get an application to see him. When we asked him to invest in his area of specialization, he did so without any hesitation hence this huge donation. This is the beginning of a partnership between FUTA and MFM".
The Vice chancellor also implore other well-meaning individuals and organizations to emulate the good gesture of Professor Olukoya and MFM. " FUTA is open to any donation that will enhance teaching, learning and community development in the institution. This project is special because it is coming from the private sector and not the government. We want to appeal to the private sector to be more generous in their support to education in Nigeria. We have been given assurances that this is not going to be an abandoned project. MFM has done noble and FUTA is grateful , " Professor Oladiji stated.
Earlier the Director, Directorate of Physical planning, Engr Folorunsho Boyinbode said the proposed laboratory is a bungalow building with one Chemical store, one instrument store, four offices, one general laboratory and one biotechnology laboratory.
He said the project , which is sited at the back of School of Life Sciences , will be executed promptly and with due diligence for the benefit of the university community and mankind.
