She said the impressive citations will also aid institutional collaboration and attract recognized scientists to the institution. Professor Oladiji while congratulating the scholars who made the list urged them to continue in their contributions to the advancement of knowledge and cutting-edge research in the tradition of the institution and its motto of Technology for Self-Reliance.

The Elsevier/Stanford ranking report provides an extensive analysis of scientific publications and citation metrics, identifying the world's most impactful scientists. This prestigious accolade marks a significant milestone in his academic career for those who make the list of the the Top 2% scientists in the world.
The Elsevier/Stanford University Top 2% Scientists list is a yearly compilation of the top-cited 100, 000 scientists in their respective fields in the world available in Elsevier Data Repository. The scientist list is generated by employing data from the Scopus database for the analysis of citation impact across22 scientific fields and 174 subfields. It ranks and includes researchers who have published many top-cited papers in their fields by evaluating their citation impacts using standardized citation metrics (citations, h-index, co-authorship adjusted hm-index, citations to papers in different authorship positions, among others) while taking into account both career-long citation impact and the impact in a single recent year. Single recent year data pertain to citations received during calendar year while career-long data are updated career-long contribution data to the end of each calendar year.

The 2024 Top 2% Scientists list is the 7th version based on the August 1, 2024, Scopus, updated to end of citation year 2023.
