FUTA Alumni in Diaspora Award Scholarships to students


The Federal University of Technology Akure Alumni Association, Diaspora Chapter has awarded scholarships to the best 200 and 300 levels in each of the Schools in the university for the 2020/2021 and 2022/2023 academic sessions.
Speaking on behalf of the donors , the Coordinator, Professor Henry Fadamiro said " we continually engage our alumni to contribute to the development of our alma mater. our goal is to recognize academic excellence and reward it at the beginning of the academic sojourn of the students, because that is the best time to encourage students to remain on the right track. A student who starts well and is adequately motivated, is likely to finish well."
Imploring the students not to relent in their efforts he said "We want to encourage awardees not to lower their standards. This is a unique opportunity to build on your academic excellence. Make this award count. Continue to be the best at what you do. Those of us in the diaspora are counting on you. "
In her address the Vice Chancellor Professor Adenike Oladiji commended the alumni for their donation. She said " I thank our Alumni Associations Worldwide for their contributions towards the development of their alma mater. It is a great sacrifice that you have been making individually and collectively. Your unalloyed interest in sustaining educational development, specifically in awarding scholarships to the best students is highly appreciated and commended. We are convinced that the award would be a great encouragement to the awardees in particular and an impetus to the students of the university in general ".
The Vice Chancellor congratulated the awardees , their respective departments and schools and encouraged them to keep the flag of excellence flying.
On his part, the Director, University Advancement Center, Professor Ayo Olajuyigbe said, " if Nigerian universities must survive, there is the need to seek partnership with the private sector, corporate organizations, Non-Governmental Organizations and most especially the Alumni in a bid to scale up resources for the development of these institutions. "He stated that FUTA has productively collaborated with her alumni and the output of such collaboration is reflected in the heights of success that the university has attained in the field of education in Nigeria and the world in general.
The Director lauded the Alumni in Diaspora for their support and commitment adding that the award will go a long way to enable awardees to seamlessly focus on their studies.
Responding on behalf of other awardees Esther Odulami of the Medicine and Surgery Department thanked the donors for the donation. She said" we are inspired by this donation by the alumni. We appreciate you for recognizing our potential. We promise not to let you down ".
