- Chaplain , FUTA Chapel of Faith
Staff, students, and members of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), community have been charged to see and discharge their duties and responsibilities as Divine Assignment from God . The charge came during the interdenominational service held November 24, 2024, at the Chapel of Faith, as part of activities marking the University’s combined 34th and 35th Convocation Ceremonies. The event brought together staff, students, and dignitaries for a time of spiritual reflection, thanksgiving, and renewal.
In his homily titled Kingdom Profitability, the Chaplain, Very Rev. Dr. Chris Godspower, challenged the congregation to guide against negligence and actions that undermine organizational goals, likening service to the Institution to working for God.
He said, “Be careful with your responsibilities. Approach your tasks with dedication, not at the expense of the system you work for, because in serving the system, you are serving God". He urged staff to expect their rewards not from man but from God alone.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Adenike Oladiji, in her remarks, acknowledged the critical role of prayers and support from the FUTA Christian community in sustaining the University’s excellence. She highlighted FUTA’s impressive global rankings and the growing preference for the Institution among prospective students.
She explained that FUTA is not just a name; but a globally recognized brand which has carved a successful niche for itself. “We have introduced new, innovative programmes to address societal needs, and with sustained prayers and collective effort, we will keep soaring” she said.
Professor Oladiji appealed to the FUTA community to remain steadfast in their commitment to the University’s vision, urging them to join hands in keeping FUTA a beacon of excellence.
The service which underscored the spiritual foundation supporting FUTA’s academic and administrative strides, blending faith and work for the advancement of the Institution was marked by heartfelt prayers for the University and its Principal Officers, graduating students and other categories of staff; hymns, and an atmosphere of thanksgiving which set a reflective tone for the week-long convocation celebrations.
The Vice Chancellor was joined by Principal Officers of the University, Deans of various Schools, Directors, Heads of Departments and Units in the University, graduating students alongside friends and well-wishers.
