The Management of the West African Science Service Centre on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL), a German supported intergovernmental organization under ECOWAS, with the mission to develop capacity, conduct research and generate knowledge for climate services provision in twelve (12) West African countries has commended the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Professor Adenike Oladiji, management and staff of the university on the success recorded during the recently held 33rd convocation ceremony of the institution.
In a letter signed by the Capacity Building Director of WASCAL, Professor Daouda Kone, who attended the convocation, he wrote “Dear Vice Chancellor, after the success of the 33rd Convocation ceremony illustrated by the participation of students at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), I hereby wish to congratulate you for this strong visibility of FUTA achievements. I appreciate our invitation and grateful to you and your team for the warm welcome. We are thankful to the GSP Director and his team for the work achieved under your leadership.”
On the ongoing collaboration between both institutions, he wrote “WASCAL intends under your authority to continue its rich collaboration with FUTA to achieve even more promising results for the benefit of West African communities.”
FUTA is a major stakeholder in WASCAL with Graduate Studies Programme, training and capacity building in Climate related matters. FUTA WASCAL is the host institution for students from across member states in the West African sub region for Ph.D. programme.
