NEW VICE CHANCELLOR’S APPOINTMENT GOD ORDAINED-FUTA MUSLIM COMMUNITY CHIEF IMAM


The Chief Imam of the Central Mosque of the Federal University of Technology Akure, FUTA Dr Adiat Nafiu has attributed the appointment of the new Vice Chancellor, Professor Adenike Oladiji, to divine ordination. He stated this during a courtesy visit by members of the FUTA Muslim Community to the Vice Chancellor on Friday June 3, 2022. He said, “In Islam we believe that no one can get to any position except it be handed to them by God. We pray for our leaders because even though they are God ordained they need the guidance of God to enable them surmount the challenges that leadership position will bring. If a leader is not properly guided, the followers will be restless. God has chosen you and put you in this position so He will guide you to fulfill your mandate. He will assist you and back you up”.
Also, the Chairman of the FUTA Muslim Community, Professor Ishaq Amoo said the Muslim community in FUTA has lived peacefully over the years and has been committed to the development of the university. he said the community gave full support to previous Vice Chancellors and this tenure will not be an exception. He assured the Vice Chancellor of the full cooperation of all members of the community both staff and students alike.
In her response the Vice Chancellor Professor Oladiji expressed delight at the visit. She said she had learnt of the peaceful coexistence of all the religious bodies in FUTA and was greatly elated at the pledge of support by the Muslim community. She said, “We need to create a legacy of peace for the coming generation if not they will be more cantankerous than us because our children are wiser than us. Let us do everything within our power to maintain the peaceful culture in the university as this is the only way we can have meaningful progress and development.”
Other members of the Muslim Community who were present during the visit included the Vice Chairman, Alhaji Ahmed Ali, the Secretary, Alhaji Isiaka Fatai, Professor Yekini Anifowose, Professor Muftau Smith, Professor Oyetunji Akinlabi, Student Amir Olapade Yusuf, Alhaja Folashade Amoo, Alhaja Idiat Fadola, and Alhaja Tawakalitu Yusuf.
