FUTA New Pro-Chancellor Holds Interactive Session with University Community
"The newly appointed Pro Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Senator (Professor) Nora Ladi Daduut, has commended the management, staff, students, and all stakeholders of the institution for making it a leading light among higher institutions in Nigeria and beyond. She added that her team is on a mission to further uplift the University."
She stated this during the inaugural interaction of the new Council members with the management and staff of the institution.
Senator Daduut, a member of the fourth assembly at the Red Chambers and an accomplished academic, who retired from the University of Jos while addressing the staff, said, “I salute all stakeholders of FUTA who are the pillars of the institution. Without you, there is no FUTA. You have kept FUTA moving and advancing, taking our products to the global arena. I have gone through lots of documents about FUTA and wish to commend your doggedness over the decades. We have toured the campus and I now have a better view of the campus. “I must say I am really impressed by the modest accomplishments by our great institution”.
Our experiences in life, whether in the private or the public sectors must have a bear on our students and their future because they look up to us. In the area of technological advancement, FUTA has added value not only in Nigeria, but also globally because of several breakthroughs in research and training of students. I am well aware that our products are doing well and always sought after, ditto for our staff members who keep-occupying key positions through mentorship and development of manpower in other sister institutions around. I am really proud of FUTA.”
Commending the Visitor to the University, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for founding her and members of the team worthy of the assignment, she said, “I want to appreciate the President, His Excellency Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu for founding us worthy for this task. It is an honor, and we promise to deliver so as to move FUTA to higher heights.”
Soliciting the cooperation of management, staff and students of the institution, Senator Daduut said, “FUTA is our own. It is time for us to work together. There is beauty in collaboration and togetherness. FUTA is a very brilliant and accommodating community. I am proud of the rich faculties and the sense of humility. "The university's contribution to technological development is significant and will propel us even further. “Prayer is key to accomplishments in life and as a university that prays regularly, let continue to do better. We need your support to succeed. Just like, you did to our predecessors, kindly do to us too. We promise to use our influence to source for resources to complement whatever is coming from government. We are ready to contribute our quota to the development of FUTA.”
In an earlier address, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Adenike Oladiji described the current situation as a new era adding that it is time for FUTA to dance. She said, “This is indeed a new era”. This choice is good because we have an academic and an erstwhile lawmaker as our Council Chairman. She is also a mother with eggheads in her team. Therefore, it is a blessing to us because they have ingredients that will oil the wheels of our institution. I believe strongly that this new Governing Council will take us higher by building on what the previous ones have done to accomplish our vision and mission. I solicit the cooperation of all stakeholders in FUTA to cooperate with them to move the University forward.”
Reacting to the address by Senator Daduut, staff members promise cooperation and support to make the University better. They emphasized robust welfare to motivate staff. “We are happy to receive you and your team. We believe your background from serving in the University system should be a blessing to us. We implore you and your team to do all you can to improve on the welfare of staff and students,” they said.
Moving a vote of thanks, the Registrar, Mr. Charles Adeleye said, “I believe we have a God-ordained Chairman of Council and members. A mother brings comfort, so we expect comfort from the combination of our Council Chairman and the Vice Chancellor as mothers. It is indeed a new dawn full of expectations to take FUTA to greater heights. We have hardworking and dedicated staff here and our students too are wonderful. We pray for more developmental and giant strides for FUTA during your tenure.”
Earlier in the day, members of the Governing Council were taken on a tour of the campus during which the Chairman, Senator Daduut expressed her delight in the beautiful environment.
