FUTA Alumni, Student Shine at The Growth Hub’ Business Grant Competition
Two Alumni and a final year student of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) put up impressive performances at a Business Accelerator and Grant competition held recently in Akure, the Ondo State Capital.

The program which was sponsored by organizations that included Sterling Bank, Peppa, TradeFlow, Fez, Scrella, Spurt Group and The SME Mall, as well as other Training partners saw Akindele David, a Quantity Surveying Department graduate from FUTA Class ‘17 and the Founder of Rehoboth Agrifood Innovations emerged Second Prize winner of N500,000. David's Agricultural Firm Nurtures Black Soldier Flies and sells them as substitutes or replacement of Livestock feeds thus reducing the cost of Feeding livestock by over 40%.

Ekanem Oluwatosin Joy from the Fisheries and wildlife department, FUTA Class 2011 was adjudged one of the 4th place Runner Up and got a grant of N125,000. Her business, Highway Foods and grains deals in Agro-commodity exchange and supplies of raw materials to companies and individuals at high volume.

Ayoola Elizabeth Feranmi, a final year student of Agricultural Extension and Communication Technology department, and founder of Bessie Creative World got honorable mention for her creativity at the competition aside her 4th place runners up position with a cash prize of N125,000. Bessie creatives make bags and other premium accessories from Beads making individuals look royal and pleasing.
Ayoola thrilled all the judges and had immediate patronage from judges.

At the Grand Finale event, which held in collaboration with Sterling bank and FUTA’s Centre for Enterpreneurship Development (CENT), The CEO of The Growth Hub, Olatunde Victor Adeoluwa explains, “These wins go a long way to show how FUTA drives enterpreneurial spirit in the students. We can’t wait to see many more amazing businesses emerge from FUTA”.
Professor Dunni Daramola, Director of CENT had further stated the commitment of FUTA to enterprise development for the institution and the nation at large.
