FUTA SCREENS OVER 12,000 CANDIDATES FOR 2019/2020 ADMISSION EXERCISE

More than 12,000 candidates took part in the Post UTME Screening Exercise for admission into various degree programmes of the Federal University of Technology, Akure for the 2019/2020 academic session.  The screening, through which over 3000 candidates will eventually be selected, was held between July 30 and August 2. The Chairman, Admissions Committee and Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic, Professor Rufus Ogunsemi who personally went round to monitor the exercise described it as “very successful , hitch free and peaceful.”  Professor Ogunsemi described the candidates as well behaved and mature.  He said they all cooperated with the officials of the University who conducted the screening exercise. He said, “This year Post UTME exercise no doubt was unique.  This is because apart from the peaceful and hitch free conduct, it ended far ahead of the expected time each day.  With competent hands we were able to improve on our operations over the previous years. This helped us a lot in the exercise.  In fact, we closed each day earlier than scheduled and the candidates were satisfied.” The don said FUTA is noted for credibility and integrity and this was demonstrated in the conduct of the screening. He also assured all candidates that the Institution will not compromise its known merit benchmark, transparency and credibility in the admission exercise

The Chairman, Computer Based Test (CBT) Committee, Dr. Gabriel   Iwasokun corroborated Professor Ogunsemi saying his team enjoyed the cooperation of the candidates who behaved well and conducted themselves maturely. He said the system put in place was also fantastic.  He said following already established tradition of merit and transparency, the best candidates will eventually emerge as the University will never compromise the integrity of its admission process.

A cross section of candidates and parents expressed their delight in the conduct of the exercise and commented FUTA for been organized.  One of them said “FUTA is a great Institution in Nigeria and I am very happy with the conduct of the screening.  We were well briefed and the officials were friendly with us.  The screening is well organized and that confirms the integrity the University is noted for.”
