The Governor of Ondo State Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa has commended the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) for championing academic excellence in Nigeria and beyond. The Governor gave the commendation at the Government House on Tuesday August 20,2024 while receiving the new Pro Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council of FUTA Senator Professor Nora Daduut who led other members of the Council to pay a courtesy call on him as part of the assumption of duties formalities.
According to Governor Aiyedatiwa, " There's is no doubt that the university under the leadership of Professor Adenike Oladiji is doing great things. I stay updated on happenings within the school and I am impressed with the accomplishments of both staff and students. I’m bold to say that FUTA is one of the most peaceful campuses in Nigeria with a stable academic calendar. Her products are pacesetters in every field of endeavor. It is our duty to create a suitable working environment and we will continue to support the university in any capacity within our office. "
He congratulated the council and enjoined them to bring their expertise and wealth of experience to bear on the further development of the university .
Earlier Senator Daduut told the Governor that the visit was part of efforts to maintain the cordial relationship existing between the University and the Ondo State Government.
Senator Daduut said " We appreciate the government and people of Akure for creating an enabling environment for teaching and learning to thrive in FUTA. It is because the state is peaceful that academics have a conducive atmosphere for research. FUTA is a humble but cerebral community. The University has excelled academically ad and her products are top tier and adding value to Nigeria and everywhere they find themselves in the world"
She added that the council has come to serve the university and implored the governor for continued support."
The Vice Chancellor Professor Adenike Oladiji appreciated the Governor for always making himself available whenever the university needed him to attend to pressing matters. She said the synergy between FUTA and the government will always benefit both parties.
Senator Daduut was accompanied to the Government House by members of the Council appointed alongside her by the Federal Government, Pastor Sikiru Adebayo Raji, Hon. Sylvester Ogbonna Ogbaga, Hajia Rafaatu Garba Hammani , and Rt. Hon. Kenneth Olawale a former Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, internal members of council and principal officers of the University.
