AKINYEDE BAGS FELLOWSHIP AWARD

The Director, Centre for Space Research and Applications (CESRA), FUTA, Professor Joseph Akinyede, has been officially conferred with an honorary Fellow Award (FNCA) by the Nigerian Cartographic Association. In a letter conveying the message, National Secretary, Dr. Innocent Bello said Professor Akinyede facilitated the award of a grant of three (3) years free license for the use of ArcGIS software, equivalent of $36,000 per year to FUTA by the Environmental Systems Resources Institute (ESRI) a US-Based Institution for capacity building and research as part of ESRIs Africa Institution-based initiatives. He said “Honorary FELLOW AWARDs (FNCA) was given to deserving Nigerians in recognition of their continued support of the Mapping Science and Technologies in Nigeria.”

The Vice-Chancellor in a congratulatory message commended Professor Akinyede on the achievement and urged him not to relent in attaining scholarly excellence and contributing his quota to national development through learning and research.
