Couple Donates Books to Department of Anatomy

In a bid to complement the efforts of the University towards the development of the fledging School of Health and Health Technology(SHHT) the family of Mr. and Mrs. Okeowo, Nigerians resident  in the United States of America have donated three  cartons of high premium medical textbooks to the Department of Human Anatomy. The donation was facilitated by Dr. Victor Ukweanya, Head of Department, Anatomy.  Barrister Abiola Olowu, who made the donation on their behalf, said the donors schooled in Nigeria and thus appreciate the foundation of the Nigerian education they had access to. Olowu said the aim of the donation is to establish a relationship with the Department and to commence a collaboration that will be of immense benefit to the students.

The Dean of SHHT, Professor Ayo Adeagbo, said the books are latest editions in relevant fields of study and a gesture of commitment of the family to the school, to partner with the school in meeting the needs of the students. He said that the textbooks cover the fields of Anatomy, Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Biology and Physiology. The Head of Anatomy, Dr. Victor Ukweanya said he met the family at a conference and they showed keen interest in donating to the school and in future collaborations.

Responding the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Joseph Fuwape, commended the gesture and praised the family on the donation saying that it shows that they understand the challenges of the Nigerian educational system.  He said “on behalf of Council, Senate and the entire University, I express my sincere gratitude and I am positive that it will yield fruits that will be favourable to both parties in the future”.
