President Olusegun Aremu Obasanjo landed on the football pitch of the University to a warm reception by the Management team of the institution led by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Adenike Oladiji and straight to the VC’s office for a courtesy call. They were joined by the wife of the late Kabiyesi, Olori Dr. Monisola Adesida.
The former President's main task in Akure was the 10th year memorial program of one of his long term associates , Oba Adebiyi Adesida , the late Deji of Akure.
But before joining the Adesida Dynasty, the former President paid a courtesy call on the Vice Chancellor where President Obasanjo described himself as an Alumnus of the university having bagged a Ph.D. honoris causa and his visit to Akure and FUTA as homecoming.
He acknowledged FUTA has a great institution of learning with a lot of achievements among its peers locally and globally which has made it the Best University of Technology in Nigeria and one of the top ten. He added that just as FUTA is the Best University of Technology in Nigeria, Bells University, Ota, which he founded is the First and Best Private University of Technology in Nigeria. He commended the Vice Chancellor, Professor Adenike Oladiji for steering the ship of FUTA well as the first woman to hold such sensitive and tasking position and the recent ranking of FUTA as the country’s Third Best University in the country.
