The Management of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, FUTA has appointed Professor Isaac Olaniyi Aje as Chairman, Committee of Deans for a period of one year effective from Thursday, August 1st, 2024 following the unanimous resolution by the Committee at its recently held statutory meeting.
Professor Aje, who is currently the Dean, School of Environmental Technology, (SET) was born in Owo, Ondo State on 8th November, 1970. He attended St. Andrew’s Primary School Uso, and Uso Grammar School Uso, for his primary and secondary education from 1975 to 1981 and 1981 to 1986, respectively. Between 1987 and 1989 he attended Ondo State Polytechnic, Owo where he obtained a National Diploma in Quantity Surveying.
Thereafter, he proceeded to study Quantity Surveying at the Federal University of Technology, Akure and graduated with a Bachelor of Technology in 1995. He enrolled for postgraduate programme in Quantity Surveying at FUTA and obtained Master and PhD degrees in 2000 and 2008 respectively.
Isaac Aje joined the services of the Federal University of Technology, Akure in November 1996 as Graduate Assistant in the Department of Quantity Surveying and rose through the ranks to become a Professor on 1st October, 2015.
Professor Aje has distinguished himself as a scholar of repute in his area of specialization. He has authored over 100 articles in reputable journals and referred conference proceedings; and made significant contributions to books. He has successfully mentored many young academics in the Department of Quantity Surveying. He has supervised over 40 Master Dissertations and 8 doctoral theses.
He has attended and presented papers at many conferences within and outside Nigeria. He was listed among Top 50 Quantity Surveyors in Nigeria by the Federation of Construction Industry in Nigeria in 2010.
Professor Aje has served as External Examiner/Assessor to many Universities within Nigeria including: Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife; Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria; University of Lagos, Lagos; Covenant University, Canaan Land, Ota; and Imo State University, Owerri.
Prof. Aje is a Registered Member of the Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria and the Association of South African Quantity Surveyors. He is also a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors.
He served as the Acting Head, Department of Quantity Surveying between 3rd January, 2008 and 30th July, 2014, and the substantive Head of the Department from 1st August, 2017 to 31st January, 2021.
Professor Aje enjoys reading and listening to music at his leisure time. He is happily married, and the union is blessed with children.
