It is my pleasure to welcome you to The Albert Ilemobade Library. The Library is well equipped to provide value-added service. The friendly staff are always at hand to support your information needs. Print, audio-visual and electronic resources are available to support learning, research and scholarship. Do avail yourself of our wide variety of human and material resources.

 About Albert Ilemobade Library

The University Library, Federal University of Technology was established in 1982. In her over 30 decades of service to the university community and her environs; the Library has grown in size, scope of operation and social responsibility.

The University Library started off in the Old Library Complex located at Oba Kekere (Mini campus), by April 2006, it moved to its permanent ultra-modern building which covers a floor space area of 1,614.74sq.m and can sit 2,500 readers at a time. The building is a two storey building of imposing size designed to accommodate the variety of resources, facilities and services the Library has to offer to her user community.

The University Library, under the able leadership of the University Librarian, Dr. B.O Gbadamosi, has continued to fulfill its mandate of delivering effective service in the areas of supporting teaching, learning, research and scholarship. Endowed with a team of qualified professional, support and technical staff and state-of-the-art facilities, the University Library continues to provide excellent, resourceful and user-oriented services to her user community.

The branch libraries located in all the eight schools are managed by experienced librarians. The total current collection of monographs and books stand at about 70,000 volumes, while the current and back files of the journal collection contain about 1,500 titles. The Library has been able to actively subscribe to a large array of e-journals and online databases including EBSCOHost, AGORA, HINARI, OARE and TEEAL. Computer systems in the E-Libraries located in the main Library and branch libraries support the students by providing access to electronic resources. The availability of e-libraries (computer laboratories) with free, accessible and internet-ready workstations in the Main and Branch libraries contribute to reducing the digital divide within the University Community; this is in addition to multimedia and audiovisual resources which abound to satisfy the various information needs of members of the Community.

The eight reading rooms which are currently available in the University Library are comfortably furnished, well- ventilated, well-lit and adequately supervised to give users maximum comfort. The 100KVA generating set supports the provision of power supply. Internet service is guaranteed by the strong network signals from the University Computer Resource Centre. CCTV and other modern equipment support the well-trained security personnel to ensure the safety of staff, patrons and library resources within the Library, and decorum within the reading rooms

The New Library Extension is a modern library building designed around the provision of electronic services and support of e-learning. A postgraduate Library has been created to cater for the special needs of researchers. Provisions have been made for a fully equipped teleconferencing services within the extension.

With the open, welcoming and yet professional atmosphere of the University Library, we are ready to partner with our students, researchers and faculty to achieve excellence.
